New Pritchard House Roof Is Complete

Thanks to our generous donors, the Kernstown Battlefield Association (KBA) is happy to announce that a new roof is now on the 1854 Pritchard House. The full cost of this project would have made a huge dent in the KBA budget and would have delayed or prevented other planned projects if it had not been for our wonderful donors. We have been able to raise over $10,000 towards the $35,000 cost of this new roof. Thanks to all of you.

The KBA also wants to thank the workers from Anderson Roofing Sheet Metal Works, Inc. who had to endure some cold and windy conditions to get this project done. It was a difficult job and the roofers had been delayed several times by high winds. New flashing had to be installed, which in itself became difficult because the bricks are so old that some of them just crumbled. A mason was brought in to repoint many of the bricks and the work was completed in a thorough manner.

This antebellum landmark is the first thing visitors see and preserving it means keeping our history alive for future generations. If you are interested in helping us to meet the remaining cost, please navigate to Donate — Kernstown Battlefield and select “Pritchard House Preservation Fund.” Or you can ground mail a check to: Kernstown Battlefield Association, P.O.
