Register Today for Author-Led Second Battle of Kernstown Tour on 7/25/26!

The 2nd Battle of Kernstown tour, led by noted author/historian Scott Patchan, is scheduled for Saturday, July 25th from 9 am - 12 noon at the Kernstown Battlefield. Scott is the author of such great books as "Shenandoah Summer", "The Last Battle of Winchester", and "Worthy of a Higher Rank", and has conducted this popular tour for the last several years. Registration for this event is now open!

This battle, fought on July 24, 1864, was the last Confederate victory in the Shenandoah Valley but that victory came with a high price. Because of this battle and the burning of Chambersburg PA a couple of days later, President Lincoln and General Grant put Gen. Phil Sheridan in charge of Federal forces in the Valley, and the rest, as they say, is history.
