Registration Open for 2026 Civil War Park Day on 4/25/26

On Saturday, April 25, 2026, the Kernstown Battlefield Association (KBA) will participate in the American Battlefield Trust Civil War Park Day. This is an opportunity for KBA members and the general public to volunteer for a few hours of service to help preserve and protect the beautiful Kernstown Battlefield. to join us for this event, please register in advance on our website at https://www.kernstownbattle.org/events/park-day-2026-042526.

We ask that volunteers arrive at 8:30 am for registration in the battlefield conference center. At 9:00 am there will be an orientation on the day's projects and introduction of the project leaders. Work projects will stop at noon followed by lunch on your own. KBA volunteers will be on the property until 4 pm for those who wish to participate in short historical tours of the property following the volunteer projects.

Planned Activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Sweeping, dusting, and cleaning windows and glass of buildings and artifact showcases.

  • Cleaning interpretive signs and their pedestals.

  • Mulching gardens.

  • Picking up fallen limbs.

  • Weeding around interpretive signs and their pedestals.

Projects are indoors and outdoors. Please dress appropriately for the weather and for the unheated buildings where our work will take place. While we do not require you to bring any tools or supplies, we do ask that you wear work clothes and shoes and gloves. COVID masks are optional. In the instance of inclement weather, our Park Day projects will continue as planned.

We also ask that you consider donating to the Kernstown Battlefield. We are a 501c(3) non-profit, all volunteer organization. Our mission is to protect and interpret this Civil War Battlefield for the benefit of all future generations. We are located at 610 Battle Park Drive, Winchester, Virginia 22601, off of Valley Avenue (U.S. Route 11) next to Creekside Station and the Subaru dealership.
