This is your chance to run on Handley’s home cross country course and test the hills for yourself. This is a benefit run to raise money for the Handley cross country team (send a kid to camp!). No shirts or official times or awards, just a chance to see what’s special about the Kernstown Battlefield and cross country course.

Handley’s home cross country course was moved to Kernstown in 2005 after almost 40 years of being on the Handley campus. Renovation of the Handley grounds necessitated the need for the move. Mark Stickley, head boys coach at the time, reached out to the Kernstown Battlefield Association and was given the green light to design a course. Today’s version is a slightly modified version of the original design. A few years later, Shenandoah University joined Handley and moved their course to the battlefield as well. Their need for longer courses (6K and 8K) added more loops and groomed paths to the battlefield and greatly improved the overall course condition and their substantial efforts have benefited both schools.
